Applications are now being taken for candidates seeking to secure an Apprenticeship for this year and beyond.
Apprentice pay
Apprentice pay is set, year-on-year, as a percentage of the basic skilled engineer's rate of pay, currently £19.42/hr.
Year 1 - 40% ; Year 2 - 50% ; Year 3 - 60%
Note, Year 1 rate is set at a higher percentage for older Apprentices who have a technical background in a similar sector.
After three years the Apprenticeship is complete and you become a time-served engineer.
Year 4 - 70% ; Year 5 - 80% ; Year 6 - 100%.
Further training in years 4 and 5 is offered to advance your skills and knowledge, making you a first class engineer!
All years of the training require overtime working and paid at x1.5 or x2.

Training Structure
Our Advanced Apprenticeship is a comprehensive 3 year training program and consists of 4 days/week practical skills training at Torkingtons and 1 day/week release at college.
NVQ Level 2 & 3 qualifications are achieved through practical skills training delivered at The Growth Company & Torkingtons; the BTEC Level 3 Diploma qualification is achieved through day release at college.
Entry Qualifications
Successful applicants will have a minimum 5 GCSE’s, with grades B/5 or above in Maths and English. Similarly good grades in IT and Science will be an advantage.
Applications are welcome from candidates who are undertaking, or have undertaken A levels, and also from young adults who have decided it's time for a career change. A level subject choice is not critical and applications are welcome from candidates who have selected non-technical subjects at A level.
