Pay and Career Opportunities
Figures quoted below are basic per annum as of 2013, including shift allowance, and excluding overtime payments that are paid x1.5 or x2.
Year 1 - £14,346 ; Year 2 - £16,878 ; Year 3 - £20,253 ; Year 4 - £25,317 ;
Year 5 - £29,536 ; Year 6 - £33,756.
Key roles in CNC programming / setting / machining ; estimating and method planning ; quality control and inspection ; sales and marketing ; shop leadership and management are ALL available to apprentices who successfully complete the advanced apprenticeship training program, who have gained valuable experience and have the drive, determination and intellect to progress in the Company!...

The mechanical engineering advanced apprenticeship is a comprehensive 4 years training program and consists of 4 days/wk practical skills training at Torkingtons and 1 day/wk release at college.
NVQ’s II & III are achieved through practical skills training delivered at Torkingtons, and the BTec National in Mechanical Engineering and HNC in Mechanical or Production Engineering are both achieved through day release at college.
Successful applicants will have a minimum 5 GCSE’s, with grades B or above in Maths and English. Similarly good grades in IT and Science will be an advantage.
Applications are welcome from candidates who are undertaking or have undertaken A levels. A level subject choice is not critical and applications are welcome from candidates who have selected non-technical subjects at A level.

- Fitting & Mechanical Devices
- Academic – day release
- BTec National in Mechanical Engineering - may not required for applicants with A level qualifications
- HNC in Mechanical or Production Engineering
